Ten women in corsets and hoop skirts sit on the veranda knitting. In the distance, they see the outline of a person limping, carrying a knitting bag. One of the women stands up to get a better view. Is it one of their own returning from the war (pronounced wahuhr)? The other women put away their knitting one, by one and stand to get a better view. The limping knitter in the distance starts to run toward the veranda, wounded eyes shielded from the hot, Georgia sun by Ray Bans and gnarled hands encased in thermopeutic gloves. One of the knitters runs forward down the lane, “Ashley, Oh, Ashley, you’re home!” (Sound of record scratching.) Uh, my name is not Ashley, and this is not Gone With the Wind.
(Sound of angelic voices, but not the ones from The Omen). I have finished the opus magnus of the semester. Yeah! As soon as my fingers straighten out I will be knitting again. I will also be reunited with my knitting friends at the next knit night. I will also go back to work on the Christmas knitting.
Things have been looking up. I have a better phone, thanks to Hubby and eBay. I got my paper finished. Then today I went to the all day training to get my certificate as a Qualified Spanish Language Interpreter for the state Cabinet for Families and Children. I took a bit of a nap, woke up covered in drool and got to watch the penultimate episode of the latest Spanish language soap opera I have been watching. (Yes, Spanish language soaps have a beginning and an end. I know it is hard to imagine.) I am on Ravelry and started “friending” people. For someone with a bit of obsessive compulsive disorder, Ravelry could be particularly dangerous.
I may get motivated enough to get some pictures on the blog. For now, though, I am looking forward to just getting back to knitting.
