Things My Mother Taught Me

Details related to the delay of this post forthcoming.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I thought I would share a list of what my mom thought was important for me to learn. They are in no particular order.

1. Cover your mouth when you cough, yawn, or sneeze.
2. Eat with your mouth closed.
3. Keep your legs together, especially when wearing a dress or a skirt.
4. How to breastfeed a doll.
5. Laugh heartily, with abandon, and often.
6. Remember family stories because they keep you humble and human.
7. Plaids and stripes should not be worn together.
8. Age is what you make of it.
9. How to bake a cake.
10. Doing the right thing isn’t always pleasant, but you won’t hate yourself after.
11. Real faith in a supreme being becomes a part of who you are, not something you do.
12. How to choose a good husband.
13. How to stay married to your husband when he fails to meet all your expectations of perfection.
14. Speed is good, until the cop pulls up behind you.

And most importantly……

15. How to knit.

For these and so many other lessons, thank you MOM!
